How It Starts
We’ll take digital impressions of your teeth to create your customized aligners in a dental lab.
Your Aligners
The dental lab will create aligners out of clear thermoplastic material that’s strong and flexible. This allows for comfortability when you’re wearing them.
The Process
Compliance is key! Wear your aligners for at least 22 hours each day to maximize your results. Every two weeks, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners. With every set, they’ll gently move your teeth into place.
Once you’re done wearing your aligners, you’ll enjoy a straight smile.
Contact our office with any questions and we’ll get back to you!
Brush and floss your teeth like normal since your aligners are removable.
These aligners are made with clear thermoplastic material, so no one can tell you’re straightening your teeth.
The procedure can be faster than braces because it moves your teeth into place purposefully and focuses on a few at a time.
Remove your aligners for dinner, while out on a date, or during a work presentation.
Straighter teeth are easier to clean. There’s also less of a risk your teeth will become stained when compared to metal braces.
Having teeth you love will make smiling a breeze. You can see results in as little as two weeks!
- How do I care for my aligners?
Cleaning your aligners will help keep their clear color.
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and brush your aligners to remove food particles or bacteria. Rinsing them out with warm water and gentle soap will also help keep them clean.
- How long will my Invisalign® treatment last?
Your treatment timeline depends on your case complexity and compliance.
Typically, Invisalign® treatment takes around 12 months.
Wearing your aligners for the instructed amount of time is especially important!
However:
The best way to get your exact timeframe is by visiting our dental professionals for a one-on-one appointment.
You’ll be glad to know treatment time can be less when compared to metal braces.
You won’t have to continually come back to retighten metal wires or brackets; all you have to do is wear your new aligners.
- Does Invisalign® work for adults?
Yes, Invisalign® works for adults!
Clear aligners move your teeth discreetly without having to worry about being self-conscious about “brace-face”.
This modern orthodontic treatment is created using 3D images of your teeth, the latest dental technology, and input from our team of dental professionals.
The Invisalign® lab creates your custom aligners to perfectly fit over your teeth without irritating your gums.
Plus:
It works best on fully mature adult teeth!
Older teens can also benefit from straightening their teeth with Invisalign®.
- Does Invisalign® work as well as traditional braces?
Overall, yes it can work as well as traditional braces.
There are certain case complexities where these clear aligners aren’t able to fix.
In that situation, we’ll discuss if Invisalign® is right for you. Or, we’ll recommend a treatment to accommodate your needs.
Some cases may require oral surgery. For example:
If your jaw is severely misaligned, orthodontics may not be able to correctly fix this.
Again, case complexity varies from patient to patient. Scheduling a one-on-one consultation is the best way to know which treatment will work best for you.
- Can my teen wear aligners during other activities such as sports?
Yes! Your teen can wear their aligners even when playing sports.
Braces’ metal wires and brackets are susceptible to cutting their mouths.
On the other hand, Invisalign Teen® is much safer for your athlete. In fact, they can remove the aligners during practice or a game and wear a mouthguard if they need to.
